But those people you mentioned, along with the Irish, Italians, and others, were gifted white privilege by the white elite establishment in order to divide and conquer poor whites and enslaved Blacks. Nikki's "group" has never been gifted white privilege like that. They are considered outsiders by the white establishment. She may move through the world thinking / wanting to be white, but at the end of the day, they would throw her to the wolves rather than truly accept her as a white person.
